• Community Events:  Founder and Organizer of annual Southeast Community Day Parade & Festival in Newport News, which is the largest Parade in the City and the Dr. MLK Jr. Parade  in the City of Newport News. 
  • Charitable Events:  Founder and Organizer of the Andrew Shannon FEEDING 5000” events, providing free meals, addressing food insecurity, nutrition, health screenings, and community resources, often partnering with local leaders and organizations.
  • Community Advocacy:  Promotes positive youth development, civic engagement, community health and vitality in the area.
  • Leadership:  President – For The People MOS Inc., a non-profit charitable organization in Newport News. Shannon served as the first Director of Youth Services in Fluvanna County, VA for the Fluvanna County Office On Youth developing programs such as Teen Scene, a performing arts program that traveled nationally showcasing the talent and creativity of youth in marginalized communities; Director of Volunteer Services for Commonwealth of Virginia state agency;   U. S. Commission On Civil Rights Virginia Advisory Committee and the Board of Trustees for the Commonwealth of Virginia Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Public Policy Center.
  • Background:  Married to Lisha Bryant-Shannon, wife of over 41 years. Two daughters Dr. Andrea N. Shannon, Inesha Shannon Connell, MSOT L/R and son in law Cody Connell. Andrew Shannon is a native of Wilmington, North Carolina with deep roots in the Newport News, Virginia community.
  • Education:  Winston-Salem State University. Shannon has extensive experience in non-profit and public sectors for over 40 years.
